Creative Crafts to Make Out of Scrap Fabric

Scrap fabric can be a treasure trove of creativity. With a little imagination and some basic sewing skills, you can transform leftover fabric into beautiful and useful items. Here are some craft ideas to get you started:

 

  1. Fabric Coasters

These easy-to-make coasters are a great way to add a pop of color and personality to your home décor.

Materials:

  • Scrap fabric
  • Scissors
  • Fabric glue
  • Cardboard or corkboard
  • Ruler

Instructions:

  1. Cut the scrap fabric into 4-inch squares.
  2. Cut the cardboard or corkboard into 4-inch squares.
  3. Apply a thin layer of fabric glue to the back of the fabric squares.
  4. Center the fabric squares on the cardboard or corkboard squares and press down firmly.
  5. Allow the glue to dry completely.

Materials:

  • Scrap fabric
  • Scissors
  • Fabric glue
  • Cardboard or plastic container
  • Ruler

Instructions:

  1. Cut the scrap fabric into strips that are 2 inches wide and as long as you want the basket to be tall.
  2. Cut the cardboard or plastic container into a circle or square.
  3. Apply a thin layer of fabric glue to the bottom of the container.
  4. Start gluing the fabric strips to the bottom of the container, working your way around in a spiral pattern.
  5. Continue gluing the fabric strips until you reach the desired height of the basket.
  6. Allow the glue to dry completely.

Materials:

  • Scrap fabric
  • Scissors
  • Fabric glue
  • Polyester stuffing
  • Needle and thread

Instructions:

  1. Cut the scrap fabric into a 4-inch square.
  2. Fold the fabric square in half twice, right sides together.
  3. Sew a 1/4-inch seam around the edges of the fabric, leaving a 2-inch opening.
  4. Turn the fabric right side out and stuff it with polyester stuffing.
  5. Sew the opening closed.

  6. Cut a piece of ribbon that is 6 inches long and thread it through the key ring.
  7. Tie the ends of the ribbon together to make a loop.
